I cannot say enough great things about Alyson - I had the best birthing experience I could have dreamt of as a first time mom. Alyson was very thorough during all prenatal appointments. She answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns, which gave me peace of mind as I got closer to my due date. Her birthing center is very cozy and inviting, and she was well prepared considering my baby arrived about 30 minutes after we got to the center. Alyson honored all of my wishes, like delayed cord clamping and a glorious, unrushed, golden hour. Alyson was patient as we gathered all of our things after I delivered, despite it being almost midnight by the time we officially left. Postpartum, Alyson has been very helpful with my first time mom questions and concerns, and has been a wealth of knowledge! As I became a woman I’ve never pictured myself having a baby at a hospital. I knew I always wanted a midwife. Having a midwife is a truly remarkable experience. Throughout every prenatal appointment, Alyson added trust, security, and wisdom. Alyson is hands down the best person in the world. After given birth to 3 other babies in a hospital it was always my dream it have a more natural child birthing experience. Alyson exceeded all my exceptions. She and my youngest daughter (2yo) shared an amazing bond thoughtout my pregnancy. She let her "help" with everything, and that was so special to watch. Appointment days were always a blast because not only did I get to check up on our new addition, but Alyson truly provides a safe to just talk. We wish we met her sooner as this was our last baby. Hands down one of the best experiences of my life. I gave birth to my second child in May, and decided last December that I wanted to use a midwife. We found Alyson online, and though we interviewed a few others as well, she was actually the first we found and I knew immediately after meeting her that she would be our midwife. We did not click with any of the others, and even felt uncomfortable at some. Because Alyson is the only midwife at her practice, she conducts all appointments and consultations, and attends every birth. She only takes on as many “clients” as she can manage at a time, and this means you get very one-on-one attention, and we grew very close with her. Appointments were generally quick and easy, but she allots plenty of time (at least an hour) for questions or just conversation, which we ended up talking about anything and everything almost every appointment. And because she’s the only one, you know exactly who will attend your delivery, unlike some where they have multiple midwives that rotate on-call. Alyson is one of the most experienced midwives I have ever come across, and also still so down-to-earth and the most comforting bedside manner. She offers both homebirth services, as well as birth center in her newly renovated facility. It’s beautiful, so comfortable, and fully equipped. We opted for a home birth, and Alyson came with all her supplies, as well as her birth assistant, Robin (who is amazing as well). This was my first midwife experience. My first child I delivered naturally, low/no intervention, in the hospital. I was a little hesitant about not delivering in a traditional medical setting, but Alyson immediately made us feel comfortable and capable. And ultimately we made the decision to go even a step further and deliver at home. Having Alyson, gave me the confidence to deliver at home. I would 100% recommend. Prenatal: As a first time mother I wanted to deliver at a birth center because I value traditional birthing experiences without the many medical interventions. From the first time meeting Alyson I knew that she would be my midwife. Every appointment I felt at ease, I never had to wait and I was able to ask many questions for at least an hour. Alyson is very experienced and very knowledgeable, which was important for my husband and I. Labor: Alyson was there the entire time to guide me even while I labored at home. I had a successful delivery. I got checked at about 9:30 am and my baby was here by 4:30 pm. She made sure I was good and my son was good. She also allowed time for us to bond. She also has a wonderful birthing assistant who kept me motivated on getting my son here safely. From my first appointment up until my delivery and postpartum visits, they always made me feel cared for, supported, and comfortable.
